Students' Welsh language rights

You have the right to receive certificates, such as your degree certificate, in Welsh.

Students may submit work for assessment or examinations in Welsh. If you would like to sit an examination and/or submit assessed work in Welsh on a module which is taught in English, you will need to submit a request within four weeks of the start of the relevant module(s) (where modules are of a shorter duration than four weeks, requests must be submitted upon enrolment on the module). You have the right to receive a Welcome booklet in Welsh.

You have the right to receive forms in Welsh, such as forms relating to Academic Regulations.

You have the right to receive wellbeing support/counselling through the medium of Welsh. Further information is available here.

Welsh speaking students will receive a Welsh speaking personal tutor.

You have the right to ask for general meetings in Welsh regarding matters other than academic course content. If necessary the University will arrange for this to be done with the help of a simultaneous interpreter in order for you to be able to speak Welsh in the meeting. Please note that you would need to let the meeting organiser know in advance if you require an interpreting service. The University should advise you of the process when they arrange the meeting and let you know the deadline for advising of your requirements.
