Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?
I was very impressed by the idea that the campus is by the beach and thought that it would be a good idea that after having my lectures it would be relaxing to go and unwind by the beach. Swansea is a small city, which made it a preferred location for me as commuting between places wouldn’t be as hard. Swansea University is a campus university, and not a city university. Therefore, it has a lot of amenities both educational and recreational conveniently on campus, which was important to me as an international student. It is also a community university with students from all over the world, which taught me about new cultures while making me feel at home, as there were students from Egypt and Kenya, where I come from.

Can you tell us about your course and what did you enjoy the most?
Through studying software engineering, I have learnt a lot about the fundamentals of coding and having the ability to gain multiple skills such as teamwork, video editing skills and coding various languages. It is a competitive course as it is ranked the 7th in the UK and the 1st in Wales. I enjoyed creating a game with my colleagues for our course project and setting milestone goals for each other while creating an impressive piece of work.

What are your three favourite things about Swansea?
1. The sceneries and the beach are very relaxing.
2. The quality of education and care of the university for students is very high and dealt with in all seriousness, which makes the students feel cared for.
3. The community is very kind and friendly, which makes me feel at home.

Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?
Yes, I would encourage any international student to join Swansea University.
