The Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law enjoys a close relationship with renowned international law firm, Stephenson Harwood. The firm, which is well known for their work in the fields of shipping and energy, generously offers Swansea’s Shipping and Trade LLM students two internships each year.

This year, the winners of said prizes were:

  • Ms Aja BAH, and
  • Mr Joshua Benn

Both performed extremely well during their LLM degrees and will relish this opportunity to work with Stephenson Harwood’s MIT team. They are eager to begin their internships this summer.

The Prizes were awarded at a ceremony held at the firm’s London offices, and were presented by Cathal Leigh-Doyle, one of the partners at the firm.

The students were accompanied by Professor Soyer and Dr Kurtz-Shefford who also attended the reception that followed the award ceremony. At the reception, both students had an opportunity to meet junior members of the team and find out more about legal practice and the work of the firm.

Of their awards, Dr Kurtz-Shefford said the following:

“We are very grateful to Stephenson Harwood for providing our students with such an invaluable opportunity. Their support to the delivery of our LLM Programmes has been immense over the years and we are confident that these internships will help our students progress in their academic careers.”
